Behind The Interview
January 17, 2007
by Jason Salerno

Click For Full Size Jack E. Jett’s comedy talk show The Queer Edge was the most popular program on the short lived gay channel, Q-TV. When the network crumbled, it seemed the curtain had closed on the maniacal wise cracker. Thanks to the world wide web, however, the curtain is rising again. Jack E. Jett’s The Queer Edge returns this month, with the exciting addition of lesbian comedian Sandra Bernhard.

Why did you launch your new channel on WorldofWonder.net?
I think that everyone involved at World of Wonder are about ten years ahead of their time, and even though some of them look it – kidding! – they are on the cusp of cool. Also, when I recently lost my testicles in a freak sex accident, both Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey (founders of World of Wonder and also the producing team behind One Punk Under God) donated one each, in order to make my scrotum more complete.

Do you think the internet will be the next wave in television?
There is no doubt in my mind. There are very few limits on the internet. I’m now airing video of a guy cutting his finger off, a nun getting into S&M, a guy injecting insulin in his penis… weird freaky stuff like that. No FCC, dude! Of course, I don’t air anything with children, which is fine because I don’t find them amusing in any way at all. So, hell yeah, filter-less TV is here to rule the planet.

Why do you think it has taken so long to catch on?
Internet TV has only been going down for a couple of years and they have had several technological kinks to work out. As some Roman once said, “a bath house is not built in a day”.

If a gay broadcast network like Here-TV offered you a deal, would you take it?
I would love to work with Here-TV. They are by far the bravest of the two gay networks left standing. It’s a bummer that I am not part of it. They are always agreeing to take meetings with me though, and they are an attractive bunch. On the LOGO side, there is a lady that runs the joint who dislikes me in major ways. I guess ya just can’t please everyone.
