Buddy G - My Two Moms and Me
A new children's cartoon on DVD, Buddy G - My Two Moms and Me, features Buddy G, a young boy being raised by two moms. An Omaha, Neb., company is releasing the DVD. Margaux and Donna Towne-Colley created the series after being inspired by the birth of their own son.
Community Center's Levine to be Guest on Talk Back Live
Mitch Levine, board vice-president and Strategic Planning Committee chair of the Lesbian and Gay Community Center of Greater Kansas City, will be a guest on KCPT's Talk Back Live with Steve Rose at 7:00 p.m. on November 28.
The half-hour program consists of Rose's fifteen minute interview with a guest, after which phones will open for viewers to call in live for the remaining fifteen minutes.
Waterloo, Iowa, Bans Discrimination
The City Council of Waterloo, Iowa, voted November 13 to add protections for sexual orientation and gender identity to the city's non-discrimination ordinance. "This is not condoning a lifestyle; it's condemning discrimination," said Reggie Schmitt, councilman in the northeast Iowa town of 69,000.
Lambda Literary Awards Nominees
The Lambda Literary Foundation has released the list of nominees for its 20th annual Lambda Literary Awards. Friend of Camp and sometimes contributor Carlos Mock is up for two awards: Papi Chulo in the category of Men's Fiction and Mosaic Virus in Men's Mystery.

Diabetes Month: Free Screenings November 13
November is American Diabetes Month?. More than 325,000 people in the Kansas City metropolitan area have diabetes. On November 13, the American Diabetes Association of Greater Kansas City will be at the Diabetes Awareness Day celebration in the Shawnee Mission Room at Shawnee Mission Medical Center from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
There will be free blood glucose and blood pressure screenings, vendor booths, food and giveaways during the celebration. For more information about Shawnee Mission Medical Center's event, call 913-676-7585.
