RuPaul’s Recap, Episode 6: Can Eliminated Queens Come Back?

Naomi Smallz back bends for days.

Start your engines, ladies – the eliminated queens are back with a vengeance.

We left off last episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 4 stunned as Gia Gunn, Farrah Moan, Latrice Royale and Jasmine Masters returned to the series and RuPaul announced that All Stars rules would be suspended.

This episode introduced us to the first-ever “Lip Sync LaLaPaRuZa.” Each eliminated queen was given the chance to come back into the competition if they won a lip-sync against the remaining queen of their choice. The exceptions were last week’s winners, Monet X Change and Manila Luzon, who were granted immunity from elimination.

That meant that Monique Heart, Trinity the Tuck, Valentina and Naomi Smalls were in jeopardy, because they would be sent home if the eliminated queen won. The kicker was the order in which the eliminated queens would pick their lip-sync partners. The most recently eliminated competitor, Latrice, would pick first, and then the selections would follow the order of elimination, with Jasmine last.

In terms of strategy, they could either choose to lip-sync against someone they thought was a weaker performer or choose based on vengeance and battle against the one who sent the eliminated queen packing. Monique Heart, Kansas City’s own, was visibly shaken for the remainder of the episode, because Latrice clearly would come for her just desserts. And she did.

The runway fashions were all over the map, some almost identical to past runway looks. Valentina looked fierce but familiar in a purple catsuit reminiscent of her Selena look. Similarly, Latrice wore a short uncinched dress with sequins and fringe, paying homage to her elimination outfit. Trinity wore a black cloak, hiding an obvious reveal that she would make for the lip-sync. Though Manila was safe with immunity, she brought the camp factor with a spaghetti-themed dress.

On the main stage, the Lip Sync LaLaPaRuZa kicked off with Jasmine vs. Trinity to RuPaul’s song “Peanut Butter.” After a weak reveal, Trinity shook her cakes to a victory, sending Jasmine packing for the second time. Next up was Farrah Moan vs. Valentina, performing to Ru’s song “Kitty Girl.” Valentina’s catsuit worked in her favor and Farrah was sent home yet again. Gia Gunn chose to lip-sync against Naomi Smalls, and Naomi turned it out with backwards bends, leg movements and all-around attitude to RuPaul’s song “Adrenaline.” With those legs, Naomi provided memes for days and sent Gia home.

The last lip-sync pitted Latrice, a seasoned lip-sync performer, against Monique, who was nervous. The song, RuPaul’s “Sissy That Walk,” is epic. Both queens had wig reveals and double death drops. It seemed Monique had it, but Ru announced Latrice as the winner, bringing her back into the competition. Monique stood alone on stage, defeated and depressed.

But wait, Ru wasn’t about to send the heart of All Stars 4 packing. She also deemed Monique the winner, a double save! Monique dropped to the floor with relief, and the queens cheered for the outcome.

Seven queens remain. Who will go on to be inducted into the hall of fame? Until next week!
